This extract from a description of the Hotel Iberostar Papagayo shows how the all inclusive basis covers four different aspects of the hotel service – food, drink, sport and leisure and entertainment.
For many guests, food is probably the most important aspect of the all inclusive arrangement but all it means is that those guests staying on that basis will take all of their breakfasts, lunches and dinners meals in the hotel, mostly from a buffet. In addition, they are entitled to snacks between meals; plus afternoon tea and ice cream.
Of course, guests do react differently to buffet meals. Reviews of the food provided by one hotel include one comment that the ‘Food was lovely, so much to enjoy. Usual breakfast fayre including Spanish Omelette. Chicken at lunchtime was gorgeous. Evening meal was terrific too with soup, meat, pasta, paella, potatoes, salad/vegetables, fruit, desserts.’ However, another guest complained that he found the food a bit ‘samey.
The all inclusive basis contains a quite carefully structured drinks policy, typically providing unlimited hot drinks, hard and soft cold drinks and alcohol (either including or excluding international brands,) for a minimum of up to twelve hours per day.
